Performing Arts for Children
Series
Each year
The Grand is proud to offer a selection of high quality
performing arts events for schools and children. This
year’s program is packed with exciting events and
entertainers to teach and delight not only children, but
teachers and creative educators as well. From classics
like Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe to African- rooted
dance, music and folklore with the Art of Black Dance
and Music, we aim to spark a lifelong love for the arts.
The Performing Arts for Children program works to
broaden the cultural and artistic experiences of all
Hancock County students. Over 3,000 of you joined us
last year and we hope you’ll continue to make the Grand
your home for great performing arts education.

Fred Garbo
Inflatable Theatre Company
May 9th @12pm
Fred Garbo returns to The Grand to delight us with his
Inflatable Theatre Company. The concert begins when a
ten-foot cylinder slithers onto the stage and implodes,
and before long the entire audience is playing catch
with gigantic inflatable props!
Fast-paced, energetic, universally engaging and
theatrically clever, Fred Garbo and partner Daielma
Santos mesmerize their audience with imaginative imagery
and artistic foolishness.

The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Hancock County
Presents
The Gondoliers
February 29th, 10am
The impoverished Duke and Duchess of
Plaza-Toro come to Venice in search of the heir to the
throne of Barataria, inconveniently mislaid at birth and
betrothed to their daughter. The most likely candidates
are two handsome gondoliers, far more interested in
parties than politics and, what's more, just married! It
takes the help of the nursemaid to unravel the knots in
this particularly twisty tale.
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of
Hancock County has been putting on award winning
performances of these Victorian era musicals for over 30
years, come join the laughs, history and music of G&S!
Curriculum Connectors: Language Arts,
Music, Culture
Recommended Grade Level: 4-12
